Michelle and Tim are a fun and loving couple who felt like our dear friends, even at our first meeting. They’re dog people, we’re dog people. They’re wine people, we’re wine people. Their engagement session turned from one hour to three as we added a tour of the reception location, dinner at the Grange Restaurant and a stop at Michelle and Tim’s East Sacramento home for a couple of killer tomolive martinis (these make an appearance on the last page of the album). It was the first of many fun evenings with our new friends, not the least of which was their modern day, storybook wedding.
Their wedding day began at the well-appointed Citizen Hotel. A first sighting was staged on the balcony of the presidential suite and was followed by a classic luxury limousine ride to the State Capitol. We strolled casually around Capitol Park, stopping for them to look into eachothers eyes and take a mental picture, their own special “moments” throughout the day. The bridal party joined us on the Capitol steps and together we captured some playful moments of the group together. It was a beautiful October day in downtown Sacramento and we were able to walk from the capitol building to the ceremony location.
The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament is a grand and glorious building nestled right in downtown Sacramento. The size of the room brought perspective and reverence to the ceremony while the couple’s energy and love brought warmth and sweetness. After their first kiss, we gathered on the front steps of the cathedral for a group photo and received a planned police escort to the reception venue, The Citizen Hotel.
The whole wedding illustrated Michelle’s attention to sentimental detail with an emphasis on the “nouveau traditional”. Their initials were used in a custom wedding logo designed with an extension cord – part of their “how we met” story. Her everlasting bouquet was painstakingly handmade from donated family brooches and weighed in at over 10 lbs. The cake topper reflected their love of Disney with Mickey Mouse ears on the bride and groom. Even the couple’s black and white dog, Mylo had his place as a cake topper;a custom porcelain dog was handpainted to look exactly like the real Mylo. A fondant wall socket graced the backside of their cake, continuing the extension cord theme. Everywhere you looked, was another personal touch.
Michelle had been hoping to capture some fall colors, but the trees in Sacramento in October weren’t cooperating. So, after their honeymoon sail through the Mediterranean, we got together again for an “after” session. We chose the contrasting locations of the Mare Island Naval buildings and the fall vineyard colors of Napa and got spectacular images at both. We even took along a videographer and you can see some of the footage on our wedding homepage!
On Yelp, Michelle wrote: “Mischa Photography has made me one happy bride!..and this is coming from a perfectionist! Mischa and Brianne ensured we got fantastic photos of our big day, posted a slide show for everyone soon after wards, diligently worked on our wedding album, and answered all of my questions with patience and care. They really are an unparalleled team, in personality and skill. Thank you, you two!”
For their wedding album featured here, Michelle & Tim chose our Galleria option which has the unique ability to mix flush mount pages with matted pages. They chose the 13×10 size with an Acrylic cover and black leather which is represented on the left side of the first spread. The finished album is gilded in silver and printed on archival photographic paper.
